HARDY, Ark. — A fire chief and three other responders were injured when they were struck by a car at the scene of a crash in Ark. Tuesday.
Crews were treating a man following a one-vehicle crash when a second car came around the curve, crossed the center line and ran off the road.
Four responders, who were well off the highway, were struck before the car rear-ended the Wirth Fire Department’s brush truck, according to Area Wide News.
Injured were Martin Creek Fire Chief William James, Katina and Clarence Baggett of Martin Creek and Bernadette Freigy of Wirth.
Katina Baggett was flown by medevac to the hospital, and Clarence Baggett was taken by ambulance, as was Freigy.
Katina is in the trauma unit awaiting surgery. Everyone else is in stable condition, Area Wide News said.
