LOS ANGELES — Authorities say two people were injured after falling about 10 feet when a jet way collapsed at Los Angeles International Airport.

The Los Angeles Times says a portion of the floor board next to the aircraft door apparently collapsed about 6:50 p.m. Wednesday shortly after American Airlines flight 557 taxied to the gate. The Times says the two people injured were exiting the aircraft when they fell.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Matt Spence says two people were taken to hospitals in fair condition.

According to the airline’s website, the flight originated in Boston with a stopover in Chicago before heading to LAX.

A telephone message left with American Airlines was not immediately returned.
