WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — An ex-military vehicle was used to rescue nearly 40 workers who were stuck in a building that was blocked by nearly five feet of water.
WRIC reported that workers from Steinerfilm Inc. were stuck in their building after a storm left the area flooded.
“Over the intercom, it said to evacuate the building,” employee James Wolfe said. “This is time-sensitive, and we have to get out of here right now. The water was rushing, then I saw a truck — one of the biggest trucks I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Public Works director Tim Kaiser came to the rescue after being called to evacuate the workers, and he used an ex-military vehicle designed to withstand extreme inclement weather.
“The water was up to this truck’s window,” Wolfe said.
The workers climbed on a ladder to get on the vehicle, and everyone was driven away to safety.
The company hopes to be back in business in the near future.
