FAYETTE COUNTY, Pa. — Members of several Fayette County fire departments and EMS agencies worked about six hours to rescue four people after an SUV fell 300 feet over a Connellsville Township rock cliff early today.
State police said the four are recuperating from serious injuries in a Pittsburgh hospital. The victims’ names were not released.
Police said the front end of the 1998 Ford SUV hit the ground about 12:15 a.m., ejecting two occupants.
Authorities said all four had to be hoisted up the face of the rock cliff, due to their injuries and the remote location in which they landed.
Police said the vehicle veered off a dirt road in an area locally known as Casparius Caves. The accident remains under investigation.
