AMHERST COUNTY, Va. — Amherst County Fire/EMS has experienced a record boost in new recruits this year.
The agency reported onboarding 10 new EMTs and paramedics, marking the largest single class in the county’s history, WSET reported.

“Please join us in welcoming these 10 new Fire/EMS Providers to Amherst County! We look forward to seeing their success in caring for the citizens of Amherst County!” the department posted on social media.
The new recruits are completing their orientation and learning what it means to be a first responder in Amherst County.
