WEST MIDLANDS, England — An ambulance responding to a 999 call on blue lights collided with a family car carrying three people in the Black Country.
A further five ambulances were called to the scene of the smash at the junction of Newton Road and Hollyhedge Lane, West Bromwich, on Saturday at 11pm.
The man driving the car suffered head and chest injuries and a woman passenger sustained a suspected broken pelvis. The child was uninjured.
Fire crews worked with paramedics to cut the woman free from the wreckage.
Two of the three-man ambulance crew were also injured.
A West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman said: “The Trust takes any incident involving an emergency vehicle whilst responding to a 999 call very seriously and will work closely with the police to establish exactly what happened.” A second ambulance was dispatched to the original 999 call.
