IRVING, Texas — Authorities say at least two people are dead after a chartered bus overturned on a North Texas highway.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Lonny Haschel tells KRLD radio that the bus slid off the busy highway Thursday morning in Irving, just east of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

He says two people were killed and several others are injured.

The bus belongs to Cardinal Coach Line. A man who answered the phone at the company confirmed the bus’ ownership but declined further comment.

Video from the scene shows the bus tipped on its side in the center median along State Highway 161. Emergency workers are using emergency exits on top of the bus to get to passengers. Some are being wheeled to ambulances. Helicopters also are at the scene.
