Brian Henrichs and Trevin Sundbaum did not think twice when they saw a commotion in the street and realized a man was trying to abduct a woman’s 2-year-old son.
“Immediately, I think both of us were on the radio asking for police,” Henrichs said. He and Sundbaum immediately stopped the ambulance and came to the rescue of a woman who had been knocked over by a man who claimed her boy was his sister’s child.
“There was a lady holding a child who was crying, there was a guy to our right that seemed pretty agitated,” Henrichs said. “He was sweating, kind of red in the face.”
The man, Matthew Lee Edwards, was arrested.
The mother, whose name is being withheld, thanked the medics by bringing them some homemade bread.
“I was holding onto my son for dear life,” she said.
