JENKS, Okla. — A Jenks Public Works employee was hospitalized Thursday morning after falling into a sewage tank.

Jenks firefighters were called about 8:05 a.m. to the 10900 block of South Oak Avenue to rescue a man who had fallen down a ladder inside a sewage lift station, Fire Capt. Gary Friedell said.

Friedell said the Public Works employee dropped an estimated 10 feet, severely injuring his ankle.

Crews used ropes and a harness to pull the man out of the confined space, he said.

The unidentified man was transported by EMSA to a local hospital.
