PORTLAND, Maine — A Portland firefighter-paramedic died Thursday afternoon due to an apparent stroke, according to FirefighterCloseCalls.
Firefighter-paramedic Debra Cole, a veteran with more than 12 years of experience, was at the South Portland Fire Department when she collapsed, prior to the end of her shift.
Her crew immediately tended to her and she was transported to Maine Medical Center where she underwent almost 11 hours of surgery, but later died.
