Lawyer: Meds caused Va. cop to stab firefighters

Medication Bradley Colas took to treat a respiratory infection made him “hear voices”

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach officer who allegedly attacked two firefighters at a crash scene was suffering side effects from an antibiotic at the time, according to his lawyer.

Bradley Colas, 23, is accused of stabbing two firefighters — and firing shots at responders — after crashing his car into a tree last week.

Colas’ lawyer said medication he took to treat a respiratory infection made him hear voices, according to CBS Local. He reportedly took six doses of Biaxin, but stopped when he suffered from hallucinations.

Colas said he was driving the day of the crash because he had to go to Philadelphia to see Jesus, the lawyer said. He reportedly believed the firefighters were demons.

He remains in jail, WTKR reported. Sources said he worked hard to become a police officer and recently graduated academy.
