BOONE COUNTY, Ind. — A Boone County EMT and single mother of two girls has been overwhelmed by support after her story aired on Fox 59 News over the weekend.

In their Thorntown home Monday, Christmas came early for those little girls. Steve Furste with Habitat for Humanity of Boone County dropped off donations, including presents to put under their tree. “Probably well over 100 people have said, ‘How can I help?’” Furste said.

Fox 59 met mom Amber Welch as she struggled, just days before Christmas, to buy gifts for her four and five-year-old daughters. Welch is an EMT and was in an accident in her ambulance, fracturing discs in her spine and leaving her unable to work for at least the next eight weeks. “I have no idea … what I’m going to do. How I’m going to pay bills, how I’m going to do anything,” Welch told Fox 59 over the weekend.
