SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A firefighter/paramedic has been arrested on a misdemeanor sexual battery charge.

KCRA reported Jared Evans, 32, was booked into jail yesterday and released on bail after turning himself in when a warrant for his arrest was issued.

Court documents say Evans was on duty as a paramedic on April 1 when his female patient, 19, began having seizures. Evans allegedly touched her inappropriately while transporting her to the hospital.

A Sacramento Fire Department intern witnessed the incident and told a supervisor on April 16.

The witness said Evans pulled the patient’s right breast out of her bra while she was “completely unresponsive to pain and verbal commands, she was out.”

Evans allegedly later told the intern, “Sorry man, I had to.”

Police questioned the patient, who said she could hear and feel everything despite her medical state.

Evans, a two-year veteran of the department, denied touching the patient. He is currently on paid administrative leave.

His court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 26.
