ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A car crash in North St. Louis killed one man overnight and left a second fighting for his life. St. Louis firefighters and paramedics rushed to the corner of Page Boulevard and Vandeventer Avenue just after 11:30 p.m. Monday.
Police say one driver was heading east on Page. A second was northbound on Vandeventer. The two cars slammed into each other in the intersection. The crash ejected the driver going north on Vandeventer, throwing him to the pavement. He died at the scene.
Paramedics found the driver who was heading east on Page. He was still alive. But, city firefighters said he was trapped in his car. Once rescuers cut him out, paramedics rushed him Barnes Hospital, while accident reconstruction investigators kept the intersection shut down for about two and half hours.
At last check, that man was in critical but stable condition. He was only identified as a black male in his late 20′s. Police said the man who died at the scene was a black male in his 50′s.
No word yet on why the men crashed.
