FDNY EMT’s alleged killer again deemed unfit for trial

A court-appointed psychologist found Jose Gonzalez, who is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Yadira Arroyo, unsuitable to stand trial

NEW YORK — The alleged killer of a FDNY EMT has been found unfit to stand trial for her death.

News 12 reported that Jose Gonzalez was found unsuitable to stand trial by a court-appointed psychologist in the death of EMT Yadira Arroyo.

Gonzalez is accused of stealing Arroyo’s ambulance and running her over with it.

“We firmly believe he needs treatment…This is not a victory, but he does need treatment,” Gonzalez’s attorney said.

The evaluation is the second time Gonzalez has been found unsuitable for trial. He has refused to appear for some of his court appearances, and Arroyo’s family believes he is trying to evade justice.

Another court date is scheduled for Dec. 20, when the prosecution will decide whether or not to let the unfit ruling stand.
