Colo. construction worker killed in crane collapse

Pueblo first responders were dispatched to the Evraz steel mill for a man trapped under a crane

PUEBLO, Colo. — The construction worker killed on Friday by a falling crane at the Evraz steel mill in Pueblo has been identified.

Pierre Warford, 32, was caught in the crane collapse and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a social media post on X released by the Pueblo County Coroner’s office on Monday.

The coroner identifies Warford as a resident of Amite, Louisiana.

According to Tim Trujillo with the Pueblo Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 11:18 a.m. Friday for reports of a man trapped under a crane that had fallen over at the construction site.

The Fire Department’s high-rescue operation team arrived and determined the Warford had died, Trujillo said.

According to the coroner’s statement, Warford’s next of kin has been identified and an autopsy has been scheduled.
