NEW YORK — Pre-trial hearings began Tuesday for Jose Gonzalez, the man accused of fatally running over an FDNY EMT with her own ambulance, CBS New York reported.
Some of Yadira Arroyo’s family members wept and some walked away during the playing of a cellphone video that showed the aftermath of the 2017 incident.
“That brought back that horrific day. It was too much to handle,” said Ali Acevedo-Hernandez, Arroyo’s aunt.
Gonzalez, who reportedly displayed no emotions on Tuesday, was previously declared unfit to stand trail, but a September ruling said he could.
The judge expects that jury selection will begin next week.
