EDGMONT, Pa. — A paramedic/firefighter was killed in a car accident Saturday morning that left another man with life-threatening injuries.
Philly.com reported that Scott Jones, 33, died after a two-car crash sent both vehicles off the roadway and down an embankment.
Jones spent the last five years as a firefighter and paramedic with the Newtown Square Fire Company. He was also a volunteer with the Aston Township Fire Department and a career firefighter and EMT with the Media Fire Hook and Ladder Company.
“Scott and his family have been a staple in our (fire department) family, as well as our community, for many years,” Sean Joyce, president of the Aston Township Fire Department, said.
The other driver, Dante Monastra, 41, was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
State police are investigating the accident.
