DUNN, N.C. — A North Carolina motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon in a four-vehicle wreck just south of Conway, authorities said.

Jerry David Jackson Jr., a 49-year-old from Dunn, N.C., died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, said Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden.

Jackson was a firefighter and also captain of the EMS division for Dunn (N.C.) Emergency Services.

The collision happened around 2 p.m. on U.S. 701 South near Brown’s Chapel Road, said Lance Cpl. Judd Jones of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Three Harley-Davidson riders were heading north on 701 when a 2006 Saturn pulled out of a private driveway and in front of the bikers, Jones said. The motorcycles struck the car.

The Saturn’s driver, 33-year-old Carolyn Cole, was transported to Grand Strand Medical Center with minor injuries. The other motorcyclists were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

All of the bikers were wearing helmets, Jones said. The crash remains under investigation.
