NORTH BEACH, Md. — An EMT died Saturday while on duty.
Associated Press reported that North Beach Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Captain Patricia Osburn suffered an undisclosed medical emergency.
Osburn, who was unresponsive, was transported to the hospital and was pronounced dead after resuscitative efforts were performed, according to WTOP.
No other details were released on the cause of Osburn’s death.
Osburn was a member of the department since 1999, and she earned numerous awards such as Top EMS Runner several times.
“It is with a heavy heart that we learn of the passing of a dedicated first responder in the line of duty, volunteer Emergency Medical Technician Patricia “Pat” Osburn,” Gov. Larry Hogan said. “Our prayers go out to Pat’s family, the North Beach Volunteer Fire Dpt, and the greater Calvert County community.”
A viewing will be held Wednesday, May 30 at the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 31 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 11 a.m.
