UNION CITY, Ga. — An EMT died after being involved in a wrong-way vehicle crash Monday.
11 Alive reported that EMT Kennis Harrell was driving his Lexus when it crashed head-on into another vehicle, resulting in his death and the deaths of the people in the other car, Michael Fullwood and Kathy Stevens, according to Union City Police Cpt. Gloria Hodgson.
Police said Harrell had been driving on the road in the wrong direction for over a mile before the crash.
Harrell had also recently retired as a DeKalb County fire captain, where he worked for 10 years.
After retiring, he began working for AMR as an EMT in order to “still help people,” according to one of his former colleagues.
Police have not released any further details about the crash.
