CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A veteran firefighter-paramedic died Wednesday after suffering a brain aneurysm.

NBC-2 reported that 12-year Cape Coral Fire Department veteran Michael Camelo Jr. died surrounded by friends and family after suffering an aneurysm earlier in the morning.

Camelo was a paramedic, hazmat technician, public safety boat operator, Firefighter Survival and Rapid Intervention Team member and an Honor Guard member. He also served as a BLS instructor and taught civilians CPR.

He was known for having a passion for education as well as bringing more skills to the department.

Camelo leaves behind two children, 5-year-old Anna and 3-year-old Michael.
