WINDSOR, Colo. — Years ago, paramedic David Jacoby was among the first responders at the scene when each of his parents died.
And on Monday, Jacoby and his partner were the first to arrive at the Windsor roadside where his younger brother, John, lay lifeless on the side of the road, dead after apparently being shot twice while riding his bicycle.
With more than 20 years of experience as a first responder in a small town like Windsor, David Jacoby knew the call he was responding to about 10 a.m. would be bad. It was dispatched out as a vehicle-versus-bike crash, and someone said the victim was lying motionless on the roadside a little more than a mile north of Main Street.
