Amber Tassin is counting the days until she turns 18. Following in the footsteps of her father, Amber is anxiously awaiting the time she can pursue her career as a firefighter, and thanks to a new program in the Bossier Parish school system, that dream may be realized sooner than she might have thought.
Amber and four other high school students, Olivia Gonzales, Jenn Sample, Andy Bartlett and Jason Gauthier, recently completed an 18 week Emergency Medical Technician course and traveled this weekend to Baton Rouge to take their state exam.
“I’m really nervous,” Amber said, to which her classmates agreed.
