Fire departments, ambulance services and hospitals will participate in a mass casualty training exercise at Six Flags Marine World on Thursday morning.

The exercise, involving more than 80 bombing “victims,” is Solano County’s version of the state’s annual hospital disaster drill. Almost every county in the state is expected to have such exercises Thursday.

The exercise is designed to test response strategies Solano County Emergency Management Services [EMS] and area hospitals have been working on.

Solano County EMS coordinates the event, and the Vallejo Fire Department coordinates the response. Added support will come from fire departments throughout the county.

“Victims” will be transported to area hospitals by Medic Ambulance Service, Inc., the Vacaville Fire Department and the Vallejo Transit Authority. The Solano County Office of Emergency Services’ mobile command vehicle will be used, and the American Red Cross will be on hand.
