BMW releases 5 fire and rescue vehicles at trade show

The line of first responder vehicles are all energy efficient and electronically powered

FULDA, Germany — BMW debuted its recent line of emergency and special safety vehicles at the 2016 RETTmobil trade fair in Germany.

The four automobiles and one motorcycle are electronically powered and equipped with standard first responder gear, posted BMWBlog.com.

The BMW i3 model includes front and rear flashers, digital radio preparations, a signaling system and LED lights. Its electric motor delivers up to 170 horsepower and can reach a top speed of 93 mph.

The BMW X1 xDrive20d is an upgraded model, equipped with a flat roof bar signalling system, front and rear flashers and an upgraded radio system.

The BMW 220dx Drive Gran Toures is for EMS personnel and features a multi-purpose roof, GPS and a trunked digital radio system.

The BMX X3 xDrive20d functions as an all-around fire command vehicle, equipped with chamber pressure loudspeakers, front and rear flashers, LED lights and an interior hand control unit.

The group’s motorcycle, BMW R 1200RT, is available to EMS personnel. It includes front and rear LED rotating lights, an electric audible signalling system and digital radio preparations.
