SYDNEY — The NSW Ambulance service recently adopted a new vehicle to get medics on scene faster — a smart car.
The ambulance service decided to put the compact vehicle to use for the holiday period, considering the increase in traffic, The Daily Telegraph reported.
“The smart car is not used for patient transport, instead it is typically used to allow two paramedics ready access to patients where there is restricted access or where large crowds are present,” an NSW spokesperson said.
The smart car was previously used by Australian medics during Mardi Gras celebrations and the Sydney 500 motor racing event.
Our little NSW Ambulance smart car is making quite an impression on some pretty big tourist attractions in Sydney CBD! ...
