RIVER SLEA, U.K. — An ambulance crewman is being hailed a hero after he jumped into the icy waters of the River Slea in town to help rescue an elderly man who had fallen in.
Emergency services were called to the river at Carre Street near the Barge and Bottle, Sleaford just before 7pm last Thursday evening, when a passer-by spotted the 69-year-old man from Heighington in the water.
Initially when ambulance technician Peter Grooby and paramedic Steve Mayor arrived they could not see him.
