United States Patent Awarded For “Portable Gas Powered Positive Pressure Breathing Apparatus”

IRVINE, Ca - Emergent President, Hans Gregory Wood, announced today that the U.S. Patent Office has issued patent, No. 7,066,175 for “Portable Gas Powered Positive Pressure Breathing Apparatus.” The patent includes the expansion of Emergent’s Port02Vent product from continuous to bilevel airway pressure (adjustable settings for pressure at both inhalation and exhalation). This platform allows for the addition of components creating the bi-level and utilizing the same breathing circuit. Emergent’s PortO2VentT offers the best-designed mechanical solution for treating patients in need of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (“CPAP”) therapy and at a cost of under $1,000, making it the most cost -effective solution on the market. In addition, this solution has already been approved for use in both pre-hospital and in-hospital settings, bridging the bifurcated market between portable emergency medical services (EMS) solutions and highend ventilation systems in hospital and hospital-like environments. Emergent Respiratory Products, Inc. (“Emergent” or the “Company”) develops, manufactures, and markets a patented suite of non-invasive ventilation therapy devices that, through a leap in engineering, not only defines the state of the art but is helping to expand the application and demand for these devices.
