emsCharts Announces Product Changes and Enhancements at Annual User Conference

Updated web product and enhanced functionality for mobile devices

Pittsburgh, PA – At their annual User Conference held last week, emsCharts, Inc. announced major product enhancements including updates to their web-based patient charting solution, and the much anticipated development of a brand new mobile system that will operate on iPad and eventually other tablet platforms.

Tentatively planned for early 2013, the web-based emsCharts patient records documentation product will be undergoing a facelift, which will provide users with an updated user interface.

“In its current form, emsCharts.com is a highly functional and efficient product. We aren’t going to change that,” states Pete Goutmann, President of emsCharts, Inc. “Our customers are very satisfied with the usability of the product. What we’re doing with this project is freshening the page design and introducing a few new features along the way. It won’t be a brand new experience, but it will be an improved experience.”

Goutmann demonstrated prototype screens of the new site in front of a crowd of 200 at the User Conference in Pittsburgh. The website update will focus primarily on the patient records module, but will carry across the entire site once released. Updates will improve user entry controls and incorporate real-time data validation, similar to their updated mobile product that was launched last year.

Goutmann’s announcement of the iPad compatible product elicited positive crowd feedback for the highly-anticipated development project. “Our customers, and the industry as a whole, have been pushing for this,” states Goutmann. “It’s very exciting to be making this project public.”

The mobile product will require Internet connectivity to function. This lends itself to eventual cross-compatibility with other mobile platforms such as Android. While emsCharts.com is already compatible with mobile safari and other browsers, the new system will mimic an iPad app to provide the coveted iPad experience, which includes portrait and landscape orientations when you rotate the device. Other features include current web-based tools such as CAD import, patient lookup, and the ability to lock the medical record.
