LAKEVILLE, MN – The State of New York has contracted ImageTrend to implement the EMS State Bridge as its statewide prehospital care reporting system. With a population of over 19 million, New York is ImageTrend’s 21st State to incorporate the EMS State Bridge.
In December of 2008, New York issued a Request for Information from qualified vendors to find a solution to transition from the primarily paper-based process to a Web-based prehospital care reporting system. Based on ImageTrend’s vast experience with 20 states and over 10 million electronic patient care reports (ePCR) collected, the State of New York chose the EMS State Bridge solution to improve their data collection process. This will help support analyzation of patient care received for the 3 million patients in New York prior to arrival at the hospital.
New York’s primary goals in obtaining an electronic statewide data repository are to improve internal processes, eliminate redundancies and to easily supply information with advanced statistical capabilities. As a centralized and fully integrated system with automated processes, the EMS State Bridge supports mobile data collection in the field. This puts electronic data collection at the source and eliminates unnecessary and often misinterpreted duplicities.
Another consideration of the State was to become compliant with the NEMSIS dataset, a recognized national standard, while employing the larger datasets used to examine the EMS, Trauma and Cardiac care systems in New York State. The involvement of all sized ambulance services throughout the state was important to the selection committee, therefore the ability of the solution to be vendor-neutral and be able to collect data from any ePCR solution on the market was important. As a NEMSIS Gold Certified vendor, ImageTrend’s EMS State Bridge securely communicates with other NEMSIS certified products and supports sharing data with other agencies and applications.
At the recent kickoff meeting in Albany, New York, ImageTrend met with project leaders and stakeholders to establish the groundwork for this venture to ensure a successful implementation, which has already begun with anticipated usage to begin around third quarter 2010. During this meeting, it was established that ImageTrend’s extensive experience in this arena is key to meeting the anticipated deadlines.
The ImageTrend EMS State Bridge is used in numerous other states, including: Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
