NASHVILLE, Tenn. — UnitedHealthcare unveiled its telehealth mobile clinic, a tractor-trailer with technology and connectivity to a physician group, to Nashville on Thursday at Meharry Medical College.
Through a camera broadcasting via satellite on a private network, doctors can interact with patients, make a diagnosis and prescribe treatment, if necessary. Licensed medical professionals such as a registered nurse or paramedic would staff the clinic.
The clinic viewing came the day after AmeriChoice, the Medicaid managed service of UnitedHealthcare, administered a grant for $290,000 to the Community Health Network to further telehealth technology and staffing infrastructure throughout the state.
