LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — A Middle Island FD EMT died Friday after collapsing in his driveway upon returning from an EMS call.
EMT Rico Torres, of Long Island, N.Y., responded to a mutual aid EMS call on July 4. Upon returning to his home, Torres collapsed in his driveway due to unknown causes. His colleague’s efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Torres is survived by his wife and two young children. A firefighter memorial service was held Tuesday. Graveside services and interment will be held Wednesday morning at Washington Memorial Park in Mount Sinai.
