Rural/Metro Awarded 5-Year Contract Renewal for Fire and EMS Services in Fountain Hills, Arizona

Scottsdale, AZ--(Marketwire) - Rural/Metro Corporation (NASDAQ: RURL), a leading national provider of ambulance and private fire protection services, announced today that is has been awarded a new 5-year contract to continue as the exclusive provider of fire protection and emergency medical services to the Town of Fountain Hills, Arizona.

The contract begins July 1, 2009 and is expected to generate $2.8 million in its first year, with a 3 percent annual inflation rate increase thereafter. The initial term is for five years, followed by two 2-year renewal options thereafter. The contract was awarded following a unanimous vote of the Fountain Hills Town Council.

Rural/Metro Fire Department has been the exclusive provider of fire protection and emergency medical services in Fountain Hills for more than 35 years. The Town of Fountain Hills spans 17 square miles east of metropolitan Phoenix and is home to more than 23,000 residents.
