NFPA 1917: Standard for Automotive Ambulances has been approved by vote of the National Fire Protection Association Technical Committee, according to a Fire Engineering report today.
A ballot of approved changes, as well as the original draft circulated for public comment, are available for viewing on the NFPA site. Barring significant changes, the draft standard will be approved by NFPA this June, the report said.
Fire Engineering’s EMS editor and EMS1.com Columnist Mike McEvoy outlined some of the changes made to the original draft of the standard in a post on his blog.
The federal government is expected to cease publication of their Triple K purchasing specification for ambulances after the standard is passed.
