POINT COUPEE PARISH, La. — A 61-year-old man died after colliding head-on into an ambulance in his pickup truck on Friday.
Brett Bergeron was pronounced dead on the scene, nola.com reports.
Bergeron was driving southbound on Louisiana 411 in a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado when he crossed into the northbound lane for unknown reasons and struck an oncoming Acadian Ambulance.
The driver of the ambulance, Peter Woods, 45, and another EMS provider were treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police do not suspect impairment was a factor.
