EMS get new ambulances in La.

Big advantages to the new model

Shreveport Times

BOSSIER CITY, La. — Bossier Parish Emergency Medical Services workers gained three new ambulances Wednesday, which will be put into service helping parish residents. The new ambulances were purchased from Excellance Inc. of Madison, Ala., and boast a new style and several advantages, Bossier EMS Director Steve M. Nezat said.

Nezat said the vehicles are slightly more expensive than their older counterparts, but the changes they bring will prove advantageous. “The trucks are a new look for Bossier Parish EMS, but more important are the safety and functionality factors that come with this change.”

He said the patient compartment is made more securely than the older models, providing a more protective area for patients and EMS personnel. Also the increased cost of the ambulances is offset by the company’s extended warranty, which ensures the vehicles stay in service for 25 years. He said the detachable back compartment can also be affixed to new frames.
