2 medics injured in Minn. ambulance crash

Two medics, a patient in the ambulance and the driver of an SUV were hospitalized after a head-on collision

BUFFALO, Minn. — Three people were hospitalized early Saturday after an ambulance with a patient inside collided head-on with a sport utility vehicle in Wright County.

The crash happened at 1:26 a.m. on Wright County Road 35 East, near Eaken Avenue Northeast in Buffalo Township.

An Allina Ambulance being driven by Timothy Daly, 43, of Albertville, collided head-on with an SUV heading east. That SUV was being driven by Marilyn Paumen, 51, of Monticello, according to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.

Daly and paramedic Brian Nagel, 30, of Greenwood, were transported to Allina Hospital in Buffalo, and Nagel was later transferred to North Memorial Medical Center. Paumen was taken directly to North Memorial.

A patient who was in the ambulance at the time of crash was not believed to have been injured in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office. That patient continued on to Allina Hospital in Buffalo on a different ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
