PAMLICO COUNTY, N.C. — Crews from the Department of Transportation aren’t the only ones preparing for the winter storm that will impact the East Friday night. Emergency management directors are getting ready, too.
Across the board, they say snow really throws a wrench into nighttime operations. Their first goal Friday was to make sure fire departments, police departments and EMT crews were fully staffed and prepared to work longer hours.
Directors in Pamlico, Beaufort and Craven counties say they are expecting more snow this time around, but they don’t believe it will be enough to cause massive power outages. Therefore, they don’t expect to open any emergency shelters. But there are bracing for the worst.
