CLEVELAND — An EMS captain filed a lawsuit asking for a commissioner to be removed from her post.
Capt. Margerita Moore claimed that Commissioner Nicole Carlton does not meet the minimum requirements necessary for the job, such as 10 years of experience as an active EMT, according to Cleveland.com. She also said that Carlton did not disclose that she was convicted of a low-level felony for passing bad checks.
Moore also claimed that Carlton was not qualified because she was never a field EMT. She was a dispatcher and a quality assurance supervisor.
Carlton was appointed EMS commissioner in 2016. The EMS union filed a complaint over her appointment, saying the city did not give others a chance to apply. The city then rescinded Carlton’s appointment and began accepting applications, but still hired Carlton.
Moore, who also applied for commissioner, asked that a new hiring process be held.
