Former EMT helps pregnant woman after stabbing attack

The former EMT quickly took action, because the unborn infant’s foot was seen through the gash on her abdomen

ST.ROBERT, Mo. — A woman is recovering after a knife attack forced her into early labor Thursday night.

KY3.com reported that former EMT Alisha Timmons was one of the first people on scene after the woman was stabbed.

“When I came out of the front door there was a lady that was just holding her stomach a little and smoking,” said Timmons. “I asked how far along she was and she said she was six days away from her due date.”

The former EMT quickly took action, because the unborn infant’s foot was seen through the gash on her abdomen, according to the report.

“If it would have happened behind the building and she had just sat there and continued smoking she may have gone into shock. It feels great because I miss being on the ambulance so it felt good that I was still needed in that particular area that I’m qualified to do,” said Timmons.

Mark Downing is behind bars and has been charged with stabbing the woman and her unborn child, according to the report.

Officials say the woman and her child are both hospitalized and recovering, and more charges are expected to be brought against Downing, according to the report.
