FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. — A teenager was reunited with the EMT who helped deliver her 17 years ago.

WDBJ7.com reported that EMT Brian Garland helped deliver a healthy baby girl – Jameshia Lomax – in her grandmother’s driveway. A Polaroid picture captured the moment Garland met Lomax for the first time.

“I didn’t know anyone was taking pictures so when I see that, you know I am not going to lie, it brought a tear to my eye,” Garland said.

Garland was 18 years old and volunteering for the Ferrum Volunteer Fire Department when Lomax was born.

Now, she is 17 years old and taking an EMT class – hoping to one day become an obstetrician.

“In EMS, you see a lot of death … a lot of suffering … but this is the opposite; this is life,” Eric Newman, Lomax’s EMT teacher, said.

Newman helped facilitate the reunion, saying it was special seeing their story come full circle.

“This is by far one of the best stories of my life,” Garland said.
