IRVINE, Calif. — A police chief and captain are on paid administrative leave and under criminal investigation after allegedly assaulting two EMTs at a concert.

KTLA reported that Fullerton Police Department Chief David Hendricks and Capt. Thomas Oliveras were at a Lady Antebellum concert when a Symons Ambulance crew responded to reports that Hendricks’ wife was injured.

According to OC Weekly, Irvine Police Chief Mike Hamel said in a letter to Irvine officials that the EMTs “alleged two men physically assaulted them while they were attempting to provide medical aid to an injured woman.”

The Irvine Police Department “worked diligently to conduct a thorough, objective and timely investigation,” according to a statement.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office will decide whether or not to file charges.
