MOBILE, Ala. — An Alabama woman allegedly attacked an EMS provider who was transporting her to the hospital and then fled from the ambulance after being told she would be taken to jail for outstanding warrants.
Mobile police say Shalatheia Conner, 38, complained of abdominal pain due to pregnancy during a traffic stop on Saturday, prompting officers to call an ambulance, according to AL.com.
Before being transported, Conner was told she would be going to jail after being released from the hospital due to outstanding warrants for third-degree property theft and failure to appear, police said.
During transport, Conner allegedly started kicking the rear door of the rig and hitting equipment. Police say the EMS provider stopped the rig to try to calm Conner down when she allegedly attacked the provider and then escaped from the ambulance.
Conner was later found nearby hiding in a shed on private property, according to police. She now faces charges of second-degree assault, first-degree criminal trespassing and third-degree escape.
