YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — A woman was arrested and charged with assault after allegedly grabbing a paramedic by the throat and jumping on the back of another medic, WKBN 27 reported.
Paramedics were called to the home of Antwanisha Jones, 31, to treat her girlfriend for a suspected overdose. After administering Narcan, the patient regained consciousness and stood up. When one of the providers put their hand on the patient’s shoulder to steady her, Jones grabbed the paramedic by the throat and would not let go, according to the police report.
The provider’s partner attempted to free the paramedic, but Jones jumped on their back, the report stated. Eventually, the providers broke free and ran from the house while being chased by both Jones and the patient.
When police arrived, Jones was arrested and taken into custody. A second ambulance was called for the patient, who was restrained after she kicked a third paramedic. She was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Four children were in the home when the incident occurred and have been placed with a relative.
