WOODBURY, N.J. — A man was indicted on assault and drug charges after sending a child to the hospital in a vehicle crash.

NJ.com said Matthew Mullen Jr., 23, failed to brake at a stop sign and collided with an SUV driven by a woman with her daughter inside, according to police.

The child was transported to a hospital after complaining of head pain and a toe injury.

Police said Mullen was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the crash.

Mullen allegedly punched, kicked and spit at EMTs when they were treating him. Police found baggies of heroin and hypodermic needles in his possession.
