TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec — Without a contract since 2010, Quebec paramedics are starting to show their frustration.
Medics with la Cooperative des ambulanciers de la Mauricie (CAM) have begun to paint their ambulances and alter their uniforms, according to La Presse.
The Quebec government proposes cutting work hours, but CAM paramedics want a reduction on the waiting period it takes to receive the highest pay grade.
They also want more money put into pension funds, La Presse said.
Unable to strike under the Act on Essential Services, the ambulances now sport messages like “Blood contract since 2010" and “No agreement at a discount.”
The painted ambulances are not used in service and are only for display, according to Journal de Montreal.
CAM employees have also altered their uniforms by cutting them or substituting jeans. CAM crests have been replaced with skulls.
On Wednesday, CAM was ordered to stop the strike and return to normal. In response, paramedics blocked access to headquarters and prevented ambulances from entering or leaving, according to La Presse.
Service was still being provided to the public.
