INDIANAPOLIS — Prosecutors charged a woman with drunken driving in last week’s crash that injured two firefighters and an EMT.
The Indy Star reported that Kaitlyn Carlson, 22, faces two misdemeanor DUI charges that injured firefighters Brian Hendrick and Corey VanWyk and EMT Clayton Moore. Carlson’s blood-alcohol reading tested at 0.247, more than three times the legal threshold of 0.08.
The firefighters and EMT were working a two-vehicle crash when Carlson’s vehicle drove into the crash scene. The impact sent Hendrick flying at least 10 feet. The 15-year veteran was treated for back, neck and hip injuries. VanWyk, 29, was treated for abdominal pain. Moore, 24, was treated at the scene for a leg injury after he was struck by a car door.
A pretrial hearing for Carlson has been scheduled for March 8.
