SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah. — A firefighter was arrested for stealing drugs from a fire station over the weekend.

KUTV.com reported that Brenden Ivie, 21, was an intern at the Pleasant Grove Fire Station. He later became a part-time firefighter at Unified Fire Authority. According to Pleasant Grove fire officials, they started noticing narcotics missing from ambulances in June. The department set up a sting operation Saturday to catch the thief.

“At the time the individual was taken into custody, we observed there was an IV catheter port attached to his arm, in his vein,” Lt. Britt Smith, with Pleasant Grove Police, said.

Officials said Ivie broke into the firehouse through a window.

“It is sad, to see a person that has so much potential and such a love for the service find himself in this situation,” Pleasant Grove Fire Chief Dave Thomas said.

Ivie, who’s no longer with the department, will face multiple felony and drug charges.
