HOUSTON — Monster trucks are doing their part in Houston to rescue those in deep flooded waters from Hurricane Harvey.
ABC News reported that a Facebook video shows a crowd cheering as a monster truck pulls a U.S. Army vehicle out of heavy floodwaters.
Houston resident Josh James said residents spotted the monster trucks and flagged them down to tell them the truck was stuck and people stranded in an apartment complex needed help.
James enlisted the help of his friends from Dallas racetrack Rednecks with Paychecks to bring five monster trucks, which are 10 feet off the ground, and use them to help rescue people.
James and his volunteer crew assisted in coordinating a rescue team of more than 200 boats, 300 trucks and 600 volunteers.
“We literally have people from all over,” James said.
The monster trucks are also helping responders reach flooded neighborhoods, transporting firefighters and EMS crews to help the victims.
James said his dad and brother are both firefighters, so he has “the blood of one.”
“When people need help and I can help, I’m out there,” he said.
